Codename Kolofonium release date

Hey guys, Stefan and me won't release the hack for the new 0.7.1-2 version until the first La Foneras with a flashed 0.7.1-2 firmware will be shipped. Its codename is "kolofonium" and it is easy as using the La Fonera's web interface (this time with your standard browser!).

We won't release it earlier, because you can reset the La Foneras to its flashed firmware and use one the known hacks. Freddy described several ways to do it here.

Please leave a comment when you get your first 0.7.1-2 flashed La Fonera.

i bought fonera week ago and i have fonera with 0.7.1-2

Please try to reset you La Fonera first! Of course we need more than just one reply.

Anonymous said...

thanks anyway

I recieved my fonera 2 weeks ago and it's a 0.7.1-2, after reset too.
The ship under the card said "fon 0.7.1.2".

I got my la fonera on the 10th and it was 0.7.1-2.

i´ve recieved one today. It has 0.7.1.2 firmware.
I´ve tried to reset but it has the same firmware.

Thanks

Its shiped with 0.7.1 r2

We also want to know how to access ><

Michael Kebe said...

Karman: Your proof is no proof. Ceritium, followed the instructions from FON (Plug in the network cable, plug in the power cable). The La Fonera will simple autoupdate to 0.7.1-2 during the bootprocess. Q.E.D.

Anyway guys, we already working on the release. Don't bother - be patient. Thanks

Maybe you are right Michael, but if you look the date of the entry on his blog ...

I recieved two foneras two weeks ago, and the flashrom said on top 7.1.1, so i think he can have a 7.1.2 flashed fonera just looking his date.

However, if they are not being shiped this week, they will be the next week.

ps.simon said...

I got one today, and it's 7.1.1, so no need yet =)

Unknown said...

me too and I realy think it's good to keep the secret save...
...till there's need, cause of flashed foneras!

Hi,
I just flashed my fonera with the latest firmware from fon.com: fonera_0.7.1.2.fon.
It didn't automatically update and I thinked I could do it by hand. But now I don't have ssh enabled. Can I go back to the previous version? Pressing reset don't make effect. Can I use the kolofonium? can you tell me howto?
Thank you!

Unknown said...

urt4in: can't you try to downgrade to 0.7.1-1?
http://downloads.fon.com/firmware/
current/fonera_0.7.1.1.fon

Anonymous said...

Received a La Fonera this morning (Italian time) with 0.7.1 r2...never connected to the internet, so it can't have been updated...

ps.simon said...

Still, the longer ths stays secret, the more foneras can be freed !

Anonymous said...

I have just about succeeded somehow to maintain SSH access to my Fonera, with the 0.7.1.1 r2 firmware autoupdate from the web. I don't know for sure if this is the same as the devices that come preflashed.

However, what I did was to manually update my 0.7.0. r4 to a specific non-flashin 0.7.1.1 r1 firmware, then shortly the fonera autoupdated it self to r2! but before that i did the SSH exploit.

So now I have 0.7.1.1 r2 with SSH access, even after reboot.

Anonymous said...

I've got mine and it was possible to reset it to frimware: 0.7.1.1 (or something). BUT it didn't take the comand to open the ssh 22 port....so I really need the new hack...

Anonymous said...

I have a recent fonera with r1 (shipped about 2 weeks ago). It auto updated to r2 and i successfully downgraded to r1 again by reset.
After an almost-bricking technique i had to reset again after what it auto-updated again when i din't see :)

Now i am totally unable to hard reset, not only the firmware but the settings also. It's possibile that fonera blocked via software the hard reset?

Anonymous said...

i don't understand why the secret, give us clues then

Anonymous said...

last week my fonera was shipped with 0.7.1 r2

Anonymous said...

got a 0.7.1.2, too ;(

Got mine the day before yesterday.

hi! i have a serious question to you.... I have broadband internet through a cable modem that is connected to La Fonera . My notebook has built-in wireless adapter, and i am about to use the internet on the notebook max. 7 meters away from the Fonera (so the distance is not big). The problem is i can connect to the Fonera ,,and my connection is "excellent", 54 Mbps, but the internet disconnects every 1, 2, 3, 4, minutes or so, it depends.... but as soon as it is disconnected, it will reconnect again, and then disconnects again in about 3 minutes, then reconnects, etc, etc.... what do you advise i should do? give a fix IP? When doing a ping test on the gateway address, no percent is lost. All right, the Fonera is placed 20 centimeters from a scanner, pc speaker, printer, but can there be so much interference, especially if these devices are switched off?!! What should i fix or set? would you be so kind as to answer to gyok99@yahoo.co.uk
Thank you all!

Anonymous said...

Yeah: Firmware Version: 0.7.1 r2!
It´s up to you now.
Please share your solution to get full access with us!

I just recieved an 0.7.1-1 today...

Take care!

Anonymous said...

I've got a Fonera today, and it's still 7.1 r1.
Hacked it successfully to have a working SSH (all done before connecting it to the internet, of course)

Unknown said...

Hell, isn't it time to release a guide now?
It seems like my fonera was shipped with 0.7.1-2, because when i try to reset it it still says firmware 0.7.1-2.

Open your Fonera and look at the circuit board from below. There you can see a sticker with the firmware version. If it's really 0.7.1.2, then please post a photo of it.

An example you can see at:
http://stefans.datenbruch.de/lafonera/unscrewed.shtml

Anonymous said...

Mine came with firmware version 0.7.1r1. The first time it updated itself to r2 and I was able to reset it back to r1. But no luck on the second time. Been tried to press reset button for more than 5 mins.

Anonymous said...

I was so stupid to do a web firmware upgrade to 0.7.1-2, assuming that a reset would bring it back to its original version. This seemed NOT to be the case. After every reset My access point info goes to default again, but 0.7.1-2 keeps booting. Looking forward to your new work!
Hans

Anonymous said...

Hallo,

My fonera does not try to update to rc2? Anyone saw this too?

Anonymous said...

the firmware sticker is on the flash-chip inside the la fonera

Unknown said...

Still nothing, Just checked the chip again to make sure it was 0.7.1.1 and yes that was correct, but i'm still unable to go back to version 0.7.1.1... that's strange... please soon help

Anonymous said...

Well, I read at fonfan.de, that the reset method often does not work at first, but after several dozens tries, it can/will succeed. They do only hotfixes at the moment, a factory reset
will reset it. If you are understanding German:
http://www.fonboard.de/fonera-~-resetten-t1148.html#6836

Here is a quick-and-dirty translational summary:

- Connect fonera as usual (LAN and power)
- Press the reset till WLAN and LAN LED goes out (more than a minute!)
- release button
- when led go on again, press reset again for 15 seconds.
- remove lan and power
- reapply power

NOTE:
IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT THE ROUTER IS NOT CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET! IF IT HAS A CONNECTION, IT UPDATES ITSELF AGAIN IN NO-TIME! (The patch is only some kilobytes)

Unknown said...

Just a question, is the config also suppose to go back to default if it works, still can't get it back to 0.7.1.1

One of my friends got a router too, his was updated over the net to 0.7.1.2, but i got that one back to 0.7.0r4, so i don't think i am doing something wrong

Best regards

Anonymous said...

Hi there, recieved my Fonera today (in germany). it was shipped with a 0.7.1-2 firmware. Please release your new code, looking forward to it..

Anonymous said...

sorry - I opened it up and the firmware sticker states "U6-FON V0.7.1.1" - so i guess it must have updated itself from the internet and my first reset attempt (pressing reset for 30secs) must have failed.
So still no 0.7.1-2 delivered in germany as of today, at least not for me. I'll retry resetting it..

Anonymous said...

seriously.. they are either not upgrading their stupid stickers but the default firmware, or reset is not possible anymore.. trying to look for other methods to reset

Anonymous said...

i´ve recieved one today. It has 0.7.1.2 firmware.
I´ve tried to reset but it has the same firmware.

Unknown said...

Hi,
I flashed mine via the web to 0.7.1.2, which means that a reset doesn't work anymore. Bad luck and looking forward to your update. hans.meijdam(at)gmail(dot)com

wanfry said...

came on guys. Tell us the secret!!

Anonymous said...

"taking it apart" LOL. there are exactly 2 srews and thats about it. takes you 30sec max.

Anonymous said...

LOL, it's so funny reading all these comments. The guys do a great job and deserve the right to choose when they want to release their work. C'mon who is really 'in need' to have access to the SSH Port? Of Course, it's interesting to see how it works and there are several arguments why one should or should not have access ...

In my opinion, if someone thinks he or she really needs f***ing access then take it apart and use the serial console or check the source code. ;-)

Anonymous said...

I have received la Fonera yesterday and it have a 0.7.1r2 firmware.

Thanks

Unknown said...

Got here one which was updated tru the internet with 0.7.1 r2 and cann't get it to reset it back. I had it hacked but for reasons, unknown to me, it still got updated. Flash got 0.7.1-1 on it.

Is hacking with rs232 still possible with 0.7.1 r2?
---
Finally got it reset by pushing the reset buttom for about a minute multiple times. With a disconnected internet cable all the time.

Anonymous said...

Joris, I think that the access through the serial console is Part of the OpenWrt Kernel which is loaded before any FON Code is executed. So, as long as they don't publish their own kernel or remove the connectors from the board, access through the console should be possible.

I haven't tried it yet because I need to get the appropriate stuff. :-) If you know what I mean then it's quite easy.

Anonymous said...

Hi!

As some had problems hardresetting their la foneras, To figure out, how it really works, I tried it with mine.

Here are the instruction, which proven to work. I tried them several times, all tries sucessful.

http://blog.coldtobi.de/index.php?op=ViewArticle&articleId=7&blogId=1

(However, Other instructions on the net did not work, especially the ones with "more than a minute")

Anonymous said...

tobi, have you tried configuring your machine to 169.254.255.1? I thought the Fonera already has this address. ;-)

Bad typo?

Anonymous said...

roland, you're right...

I'll correct my instructions. Thanks

(PS: in the to this entry captca, the word "right" appeared.. ;-)

Anonymous said...

I reset my fonera and, even sticker on chip doesn't say "0.7.1-2" I get always 0.7.1-2 firmware. I know reset has been done because my WAP key has been set to default.

Anonymous said...

Did you make sure, that the box cannot connect to Internet?

Anonymous said...

Yes, i connected the router directly to my ethernet PC interface. After reset 169.254.255.1 showed 0.7.1-r2 yet.

Anonymous said...

Of course you haven't done a firmware upgrade through the web interface, haven't you? :-)

All we can do is wait. My mother is getting her own fon in the next days. I'll post a picture of the board.

Anonymous said...

I recieved my fonera today and the firmware sticker still says 0.7.1.1

Anonymous said...

Ich hab gestern auch eine mit der 0.7.1-1 bekommen.

Anonymous said...

Hey Guys

Just a theory:

What if FON guys found out about your guys hacked 0.7.1r1 but already flashed all the routers with sticker 0.7.1r1, but then decided to quick flashed to 0.7.1r2 but forgot about the stickers

Do you have a release date for 0.7.1r2 hack

Anonymous said...

> I recieved my fonera today and the > firmware sticker still says 0.7.1.1

Now I had the time to connect my device. It is flashed with 0.7.1.1 firmware and could be easily hacked.

@everyone who's got a 0.7.1 r2 (due to an autoupdate and not cos of doing a manual full update using the web interface by themselves) and can't get it reset back to r1:

Tobi's method proved to be working!
I tried every single solution I could find to reset my Fonera, but nothing worked and I already thought the assumption to be true, that they simply flashed a r2 without changing the stickers. (Mine also says 7.1.1 on the sticker! Got it about a week ago)

But after following Tobi's method to the letter I now got the web interface showing a pretty "0.7.1 r1" :)

So, give it a try everyone! I'm so bold to say that actually every Fonera showing 0.7.1 r2 in the web interface, but with a 7.1.1 sticker can be reset back.

Anonymous said...

>But after following Tobi's method to the >letter I now got the web interface >showing a pretty "0.7.1 r1" :)

Did you ho for the beer or for the coffee?

;-)

Anonymous said...

That's the same way that worked for me, although I read it somewhere a little bit different

- disconnect the cable from fonera's ethernet port
- pushed reset till WLAN-LED went out (should be the same time period)
- released reset switch
- let it boot
- took the beer that night, it was too early back in the "old" days when I tried it just for fun :-D

@Tobi my captcha: uauuii <--- the eureka yell for the ones who finally managed to reset their fonera *ggg* not me of course

Anonymous said...

exactly at 12:48 pm, according to TNT Tracking Service, I received the other fonera. Connecting it the usual way I found out it's still 0.7.1 r1

So... let's, er, deflorate it. ;-)

Anonymous said...

I think it's obvious that the fox-boxes should ship with 0.7.1-2 before releasing the secret. If it is released before it is flashed to the ROM they could just "forget" the rev 2 and release a rev 3 instead.

Just make a picture of the board showing it's a rev 2, well I don't know if they'd release it. I know a lot of people said it might be possible that rev 2 is flashed but not shown on the sticker.

Good Luck

P.S.: I am in no way involved with "stefan" or "michael" but appreciate their good work.

Anonymous said...

@contact

Please try this:

http://blog.coldtobi.de/index.php?op=ViewArticle&articleId=7&blogId=1

I got already some confirmations, that this will work. Also, please set a different FON-SSID before trying -- if it resets to "FON_AP", you know, that the device did a reset.

Anonymous said...

It`s reallly amaizing, I thought mine got shipped with 0.7.1-2, but it actually came with the earlier version, once it had a chance to connect to the internet it must have updated itself in no time.
Check the sticker inside, its just 2 Screws ......

Anonymous said...

let's screw the screws ;-)

it's really done in no time, very little, fast downloaded, very fast expanded (.tar.gz file) and even faster applied

so have fun...

anyway, if that hack doesnt exist, its better to say so.
we will activate ssh with serial and stop waiting for a hack that nobody has seen.

Anonymous said...

to trust someone on the internet you don't know is indeed hard to do, well I do ... but have you read what the authors kindly asked for? Open your Fonera and take a shot of its sticker. :-)

Michael and Stefan what about a tiny little hint?

Anonymous said...

You do not need any network cables to do factory reset.
I did have mine flashed to 0.7.1r2 and I was able to reset it to 0.7.0r4.

Same as here: http://blog.coldtobi.de/index.php?op=ViewArticle&articleId=7&blogId=1
but with out network cables.

1) connect power only
2) wait until WLAN led blinks.
3) press reset for 20sek and NO LONGER than 20 sek.
4) WLAN led should stay on for minute(or less)
5) Wait until wlan led is blinking again. Now you should see MY_PLACE
and factory reseted device

Got my Fonera on Feb 10th (Portugal); Came with firmware 0.7.1.r2.
However, after pressing RESET for 2 minutes, it switched back to 0.7.1.r and i was able to successfully open SSH on it :) Before doing that, i open my Fonera and noticed the 0.7.1.1 sticker in the bottom.
Im sorry to everyone who has already rceived a 0.7.1.2 sticker but my advice goes to Kolofonium be released only when r1 flashed versions desappear completely, i'd say 1 or 2 months more (max.) And no, im not being selfish, coz before i realized my flash version was r1 i was preparing myself to wait). It's just a measure of precaution that must be done. Thank you all.

Hi,
i received my La Fonera and it had 0.7.1.r2.

I tried to use the step1.html and step2.html hack and it didn't work out.

So, with the help of reset button i reset it to 0.7.1.r1 and it wirked.

However, after the next reboot it went back to 0.7.1.r2, but it's no proble everything works ok, ssh also.

Anonymous said...

good attitude John W. :-)

Well, it will be interesting how they did it but anyone under the 98 Comments could be a spy for fon.com ;-)

Like I said some posts before, I think no is really in the need of SSH access and if so try to figure it out by yourself. Although there is post with a sticker saying "0.7.1.2", I think the guys will release it soon enough.

Happy Hacking.

Anonymous said...

Got the fonera 5 days ago. First thing - did the reset trick, and the firmware showed as 0.7.0 r4 after that. Flashing went well. DDWRT is good :)

Please release it. Mine came 0.7.1.2 and i really need to use this router with dd-wrt.

stop whining and just post a pic of your version sticker!

Anonymous said...

possible double post
-----

well, someone posted a sticker of his board before and there isn't a Kolofonium release yet. Whatever, the guys will choose the right time.

Really need to run a certain operating system on a router you get for free??? Sorry, but LOL. Even if someone paid € / $ 30 for it he / she should be aware of this lock. I think a cute Linksys WRT54GL would do it much better since there is NO lock like on the fonera.

People looking for solution and lose the time waiting to come "the big date", cmon, be mature and release.
I check this page already from more then 1 week, persona i realy need this hack to enable ssh, i need this to make the router to take the internet from another AP.
I hope you take serious my comment. Others are happyt because have a solution for old firmware, we stay like jackass and looking on this page, maybe, maybe you release.

Thank you very much if you real my comment, and i will appreciate if release, it's time, already routers are shipping with new firmware ;)

Regards,
Flo

ps: mail me if you have the solution please at florin_mixfm[at]yahoo.com

@flo&others
You poor beggers, maybe beggers can READ and see that you have been asked to post a picture of the firmware sticker inside the fonera... is it to much of a hassle better to moan, bark and beg ? i.o. writing your beggerscript post the picture !
If there are 10 or more pictures showing v0.7.1r2 that would be convincing for kolofonium to release... in meantime barkon...

I think as long as people are begging there won't be a release.

Interesting Idea ... why not tell the people at fon.com how to "hack La Fonera" with 0.7.1-2. They will release 0.7.1-3 and the source, everybody with rev. 2 sources could check for the difference and, if they can, develope their own hack.

But honestly, as long as nobody is really sure if rev. 2 devices are shipping, this idea isn't that good at all. They could stop pre-flashing rev. 2 and flash rev. 3 instead.

Once more, how is really in need to enable ssh?

@Flo Do you "need" ssh to configure the machine to act as a wireless client? If it's soooooooooo important, a Netgear WG602v3, or similiar device, with latest Firmware will do the job since it can act as a wireless client.

Good luck...

correction: Is has to be WHO not HOW is in need... :-)

Roland, from what i see you are happy with your FON router with SSH enable, you are one from lucky people, so pls try to understand other people too.
I'm now a dumb to dosn't know how to reset the router, i try all solutions from internet to go back from firmware v7.1.1 r2 to v.7.1.1 r1, nothing working, i recieve the router with last firmware version already installed before to put on WLAN ;), i open and inside write v7.1.1.1 but belive me i don't have why to lie here, have from factory preset the last firmware, so the reset solution dosn't work.
Anyway durring this days i will make the MAX232 and i will try to hack using the serial cable.
The conclusion is: this hack "Codename Kolofonium" can be release, people can reset from future firmware to 7.1.1.2 the same like before for a time, anything we do, FON change the firmware, you can be sure, but in this moment are many blocked on 7.1.1.2.
This is my opinion.
About to buy another router for what i need.
Cmon, why you use FON, because you get for free maybe or because can be personalize with SSH access :)

Have fun, i see you are the one from people who dosn't want yet to be release this solution for hack La Fonero, anyway thanks for your time to replay on my message, maybe will be nice if you help us to join on ssh access like you ;)

Regards,
Flo

Just got mine today, shipped with r2 and it was connected to the internet before i realized that i might want to disconnect it...

I tried what someone else said:
1. No network cables, connect fonera with power
2. Hold reset for 20seconds
3. Wait till legs start flashing again
4. Connect to MyPlace

My firmware went back to r1, so now i can SSH it. Sweet!

I think i solve the problem alone without this fantastic "Codename Kolofonium", my solution is called "Codename MAX232" will work all the time.

Thanks anyway, Kolofonium is just a illusion, other guys with last firmware i suggest to get a serial cable and to make a connection using MAX232 here is about what do you need and how to make:

Flo,

first of all thank you very much for your reply. Well, it's not hard to understand that you would like to have SSH access on your "fonera". It doesn't matter why, just because it's possible or if you want to do something with the system.

Do you wanna know what I did with my first fonera? I had SSH enabled and accidently hard-flashed it to 0.7.1-2 so the old patches won't work. The second I own (connected at a different place) still had 0.7.1-1 and has a well working SSH daemon, but I don't use it very often.

But I think that's not your point, is it? Believe me or not, the reason why I became a linus-fonero is to support the idea of a world wide wireless network so you can access the Internet in Hamburg, Berlin or London, Madrid, where ever FOR FREE. OK *gg* I'm not that often in these cities or even abroad but the idea is the reason ... at least for me.

I don't need the fonera to connect to the internet. I use my existing hardware like D-Link Access Points and Intellinet Router with my Airport Extreme card. Of course I wanted to know what's inside the fonera and found the 0.7.1-1 hack on the internet, but I did NOT "order" the fonera to have a free Access Point / Router which replaces my main hardware or IS my main hardware.

I assume you have a good or some knowledge about programming or know how devices like the fonera work. I think so because you want to use the max232 and that's much more difficult.

By the way: someone said that one should use a max3232 because the CMOS Chip uses a voltage of 3.3 V instead of 5 V like the TTL.

Whatever is right, be sure to have the right chip and don't brick it just because of too high voltage. That comes to some questions.

- Weren't you aware of such blockings?
- The Fonera is still kind of beta. Why not request a feature to act as a Wireless Client?
- What were your real intentions when you registered as a fonero?
- Why do you need the fonera to act as a Wireless Client?

There might be good things and not so good things about fon.com, whatever they might be. But I think you can understand that they want to keep the integrity of their, well, our *g* network and of course need to ensure that the money they put in la fonera isn't invested in vain.

So what do you really need? Another accesspoint that forwards network packets wirelessly? Or is you main intention to support the big fonera community and have no Ethernet access at the place you want to put the machine? In case of the first one, an Access Point(s) / Routers with WDS (Wireless Distribution System) capabilities do a much better job at the moment. Stil, I think it's a good idea to integrate WDS and / or Wireless Client functionality to La Fonera.

Finally, I do understand you and hope you understand me, this blog and fon.com. I'm not involved with anyone. So tell them what you would like to do with your fonera and how you think it could work.

I think that's all we can do at the moment.
(more than one sheet of Paper size A4 ;-) )

Hi Roland,
When i decide to become FON member my ideea was to create a big community on my country. When i get the router i was surprise to see about is limited on configuration.
Next step on my plan is to create a big community in my city and after in my coutry. I have good intention, i don't hack the router just for fun, i need more options on this router. I want to create a big wifi network and i want to make this roter to take the internet from AP to AP (FON to FON). Not many people love the ideea "share your internet", from this reason i will share using more then one FON router connected.
I have good intention and i start to support ideea Free WiFi.
Is little frustrating because my country is not on Shipping address and i find another ways to recive router for future members. I translate the router language on my language, i have in plan to open a blog and forum special to create a community here too.

Conclusion: I have good intention, i like the FON ideea and i support this ideea :)
I hope like FON to add more options on this router, i will make couple and i will send to use in future firmware versions :)

Hi Flo,

now we know what we are talking about. :-)
Why didn't you tell us in your first posting? It's obvious that we had to think that you

were just some plain begger. Whatever, now we have a point. :-)

What your are planning is a very, very big project. Where are you living?
It's seems your project looks like the idea of "freifunk" (engl.: free radio). According to

their wiki, which is in german, their goal is to establish free, independent, and

non-commercial Wi-Fi Networks. How are you planning to establish this project? Have a look

at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OLSR for the Optimized Link State Routing protocol which

seems to be the base for freifunk.

The famous Linksys Router WRT54GL is known to work good. Yeah, I know, the fonera would also

work very well, if you manage to put another firmware on it. In my opinion, if you really

want to use the fonera, you should ask the people at fon.com to help you. Or check out how

OLSR could help you with other hardware, 'cause it's unlikely that fon.com will help you

misuse their product (sorry for this word).

I wish you all the best and all the resources you need. I don't know you and hope you

realize the size of this project. If you ever succeed, it will be an honour to have helped

you. :-)

If you have the yahoo messenger add me at rovok_lg [at] yahoo [dot] de or send me a mail.

Greetings,
Roland

Hi! excuse me for my bad english. I have discovered new method for erase flash eprom on fonera. With this, in less than 1 minute i have pointed my telnet at 192.168.1.254 port 9000, and skip all previus step. Only one short wire from 3,3 volt of fonera and pin 9 of flash eprom, in the back side of fonera, for 30 second.

^^^^ Do you mean the pins circled in red on this picture?

Hmmh, my Fonera has a Sticker saying my device is 0.7.0.4. I tried to reset it without success (I tried more then ten times!) The device keeps Firmware 7.1 R2!

As many said before: I like the idea of Fonera, but I paid for the device 30 Bucks and it really has to work and mine do not! It looses the connection every few minutes and the speed feels like 56k Modem. Something is really wrong with the device, but fonera is unable to provide help. The helpdesk stupidly repeats the sh** of the manual and has no idea!
Thats why I would really like to patch my device with openWRT

Unknown said...

I received one today, 0.7.1.1!

Unknown said...

Shorting pins is DANGEROUS!

Could kill the fonera.

Anonymous said...

Got my fon yesterday. Came with 0.7.1 r2. Tried a reset but it won't revert to the earlier firmware. Ordered it as part of their most recent 1 year promotion, Canadian shipment.

Anonymous said...

I recently recieved my router, the sticker says 7.1.1, however it will not revert back after reset. I've held the reset button down for over 2 minutes, no luck.

Anonymous said...

Anyone else successful with the shorting pins?

Anonymous said...

Shorting pins as no effect.. I read the datasheet of the flash eprom.. seems that is required a voltage of at least 9 V on pin 9..
but this could delete all the memory causing the loss of RedBoot bootloader then bricking the fonera

Pinokio said...

I received a few days ago my fonera. The software is 0.7.1 r2 but as explained before i CAN do it to 0.7.1 r1.
Just with the fonera on press the reset button like 20 seconds and its done.Wait until he starts again and the version will change.

I now have some questions. After this when i trie to connect the router page doesn't work anymore with the internet on.
2- This will do what??I still see two signals from my router, the ap_public and my_place. I thougth this is to break the public signal, so only me can access my internet connection.

Pinokio said...

Well, the router page's its fixed.I have changed the ip...

But someone explain me what its suposed to do the hack of the router?? I now have the Firmware Version: 0.7.1 r1 .

is the kolofonium out already?
i desperately need it to enable bridge mode to my fonera.
updated via webinterface on the first day as didnt know of its limitations..
anyone knows another trick?
